interwoven liberations
This shoot has touched on reclamation, transformation, and collective power. It tells the story of women of color reclaiming institutional spaces that have historically excluded them. Using scarves as a prop for their interwoven strength, resilience, and unity. Through graceful movement, bold poses, and contrasts against rigid architecture, these women are not just existing within these spaces but actively reshaping them. Leaning on each other reflects how the scarves become a metaphor for both vulnerability and power, showing how softness and strength coexist and how they lean on one another, uplift each other, and collectively turn limitations into opportunities. It speaks to the power of sisterhood and solidarity, illustrating that even in spaces not built for them, we women of color build our foundations, redefine our presence, and transform exclusion into belonging, leadership, and liberation for each other. It’s a story of resistance, empowerment, and the reimagining of space—not just as a backdrop, but as a site of transformation.
